WIKI-GPT

WIKI-GPT

A powerful Assistant based on four A.I.'s!

A unique combination of a stand-alone A.I., the great Wikipedia encyclopedia, the revolutionary Chat GPT A.I and Google's search engine.
We at Rick's Software are very proud to introduce WIKI GPT to you.

WIKI GPT is specially made for Android Smartphones and Tablets and combines the intelligence of our own software with the artificial intelligence of Chat GPT, the Wikipedia encyclopedia and the power of Google's search engine. In fact, WIKI GPT consists of four main functions:

1. Our own digital assistant that we have been working on for more than 10 years,
2. The extensive Wikipedia encyclopedia and related Wikis,
3. The very powerful Chat GPT A.I., recently added to this app's functionality,
4. The powerful functions of the Google search engine.

The combination of speech (in your own language) with these four integrated functions makes WIKI GPT unique, especially because a lot of requested information is visualized using the relevant Wikipedia pages.

Currently WIKI GPT supports the English and Dutch language, however, if only the Chat GPT functionality is switched on, other spoken languages ??can also be used.

It is important to know that the aforementioned 4 main functions can be switched individually On, Off and conditionally so that you can configure WIKI GPT to your own taste.
To find the settings, press the microphone button and say "Settings" or long press (more than 1 second) on the MENU button (with the three lines) at the bottom left.

Chances are that your device does not have a good English speaking voice installed yet.
Good speaking voices are provided by Acapela, Google, Svox and Vocalizer, which you can find in the Google Playstore.
For the Dutch language, we particularly recommend the voice of "Daan" from Acapela and "Malcolm" from Vocalizer for British English.

We wish you a lot of fun with WIKI GPT. If you have suggestions or ideas for further expansion or improvement of WIKI GPT, then please let us know!

Download link (pending):

There is no download link available yet. WikiGPT is expected to be released after mid-June 2023. WikiGPT will not be downloadable via the Google Playstore, but via an apk file (side-loading). The reason is that after many years of being active there, we have lost interest in all the 'oddities' of the Google Playstore. The APK has been tested on various devices and is safe. No personal data is collected.
In principle, the app is free, with an occasional built-in request to make a Paypal donation to further support the extensive work on this app.
Get your Chat GPT API Key:

In order to use the Chat GPT functionality within WIKI GPT you will need to obtain an API Key from Open AI. The reason is that currently Chat GPT is still free but in the future will probably become a paid service. Getting the API Key is not difficult:
  • Go to this open AI webpage : https://openai.com/api/
  • Click the "Sign Up" or "Get Started" button.
  • Fill in your email address and create a password for your new account.
Alternatively you can Login with your Google or Microsoft Account.
  • Follow the instructions to obtain an API Key for Chat GPT.
  • Open WIKI GPT and say "Settings" or long press the Menu button.
  • Press the bottow row in this settings menu.
  • A dialog window with 3 buttons appears.
  • Precisely enter your API key in the black text field and press SAVE. That's all!

After you have used up your ChatGPT credits (or after 3 months trial) you will have to start to pay for it. By far the cheapest way is to use their "Pay-as-you-go" scheme, not their fixed rated monthly subscription. Go to this webpage to get this: https://platform.openai.com/account/billing/overview

How does it work:

WikiGPT works on the basis of Google speech recognition. However, Google does not listen in all the time, but is only activated after touching the microphone button or using the hot word "Alexa". The software that listens to "Alexa" is offline and thus very privacy-safe.

The four main functions can be activated one by one or all of them. The internal A.I. which is linked to Wikipedia is by far the fastest at providing answers. If ChatGPT is activated, you can also expect an answer from that after a few seconds. Finally, Google also responds if that function is activated.
If both ChatGPT and Google are activated then it is a matter of 'first come first served' which of the two responds first.

You can also conditionally activate ChatGPT and Google, i.e. in that case they will only respond if the built-in A.I. and Wikipedia can't answer.

Say "Settings" or touch the Menu button (bottom left with the three dashes) for more than 1 second to configure the four functions to your own taste.

As mentioned, everything works based on speech recognition. Some functions can also be selected through the Menu, such as the Introduction, the online Documentation, the Help functions, the Settings and the Exit of this app. Short touch the Menu button or say "Menu" or "Main menu" to open it.

ChatGPT is by far the most powerful feature, but it is rather slow. We're working on the internal A.I. With Wikpedia not turning off, this one rarely responded within a square second in concise answers. WikiGPT also analyzes the (sometimes long dated) answers from ChatGPT and tries to set the tone for relevant Wikipedia pages (in "Infobox" at the front) based on that.
The challenge is to show the correct Wikipedia page in case of ambiguity. When for example the answer is about the Titanic, it can be about the the ship that sunk ship in 1912, but also about the eponymous feature film, musical or something else.

Particularities:

You can ask WIKI GPT the most diverse spoken questions and give assignments. The Chat GPT function in particular is very good at this and in many cases surpasses the Google search functions. A built-in voice can read everything and questions and commands can be given via/after the hot word "Alexia". WikiGPT is therefore also very suitable for the blind and visually impaired!

Our own built-in A.I. has features that are not (yet) in Wikipedia, Chat GPT or Google.
This includes the following functions:
  • Visualizing the answers by means of Wikipedia pages,
  • Displaying current information (including date, time, news, stock market, indices, rainfall radar),
  • Up-to-date access to national and regional newspapers as well as magazines,
  • Ditto: traffic information, weather forecast, weather forecast, sun and moon,
  • Playing Youtube videos and music; also Spotify,
  • Talking rail timetable with current travel information and train information per station,
  • Playing the theme of TV series, folk songs, sounds, etc.
  • Extensive IMDB features; also shows the movie poster and movie info,
  • Listen to your own stored music,
  • Listen to tens of thousands of radio stations from all around the globe,
  • Talking dictionaries, synonyms and puzzle features.
  • Showing pictures of people, animals and objects,
  • Large music database including soloists, band members, discography, photos,
  • Listen to many radio plays and podcasts
  • Show current TV and Radio guides,
  • Built-in measuring instruments: speaking compass, spirit level, metronome, stopwatch,
  • Talking alarm clock and kitchen timer,
  • Talking Bibles (4 English types of Bibles),
  • Q&A, smartest human-like, "what do you know about..." features\
  • Lightning fast response to questions and commands (much faster than ChatGPT),
  • Current celebrity birthdays, day, week, month, birth and annual horoscopes,
  • Voice commands to adjust settings,
  • Spoken information about your device and its configuration,
  • and much more.
Examples of built-in WikiGPT functions that are not (yet) in Chat GPT:

These are examples of special questions and assignments that are best handled by the internal A.I.:
  • "Radio BBC one " It starts playing immediately and also shows the artist, single sleeve and logo.
  • "Who starred in the TV series [Columbo]?" You will also hear the tune of this series.
  • "How does a [circular saw] sound"; "What is the Price of Gold".
  • "Youtube play [Rolling Stones I can't get no satisfaction]".
  • "Washington Post News".
  • "What is the Program on BBC two".
  • "What time does the train from [London] to [Glasgow] leave".
  • "Daily update", including latest news, weather, date and time.

The words between "[ ]" are examples only.
Important spoken commands:

Especially remember these commands:

- "Help me with [followed by a topic]". Eg. "Help me with the Newspapers".
- "Settings" and "Configuration".
- "Documentation".
- "Menu" or "Main menu".
- "Listen" or "Don't listen": This starts and stops the "Alexa" hotword.
- "Speak" or "Don't speak": This starts or stops the reading of the answers aloud.
- "Shut down". This closes the App.

The Help function is mainly intended for the internal A.I. Chat GPT allows you to give questions and assignments in a much less structured form. You will always get an answer anyway.
Privacy  information:

WIKI GPT does not collect any of your data. It does not record what you ask it nor listens to anything that is going on in your room. In fact WIKI GPT only contains generic, non personal functions. For example it has no phone, e-mail, SMS or other personal features.
